Description Taq DNA Polymerase, a thermostable enzyme derived from the pol gene of Thermus aquaticus YT-1 expressed in Escherichia coli, catalyzes 5’ to 3’ DNA synthesis with no 3’ to 5’ proofreading activity, low 5’ to 3’ exonuclease activity, and deoxynucleotidyl transferase activity, resulting in 3’-dA overhangs on PCR products, with a molecular weight of 94 kDa.
