T7 RNA Polymerase is an RNA-dependent DNA polymerase that catalyzes the synthesis of RNA from DNA templates containing a T7 promoter. It is widely used for in vitro transcription to generate both unmodified and chemically modified mRNAs. The enzyme is purified from an E. coli strain engineered to overexpress the bacteriophage T7 RNA polymerase (T7 gene 1). |
